A Double Loss
MyHotComments
On Thursday evening, Virginia passed away. She was transferred from the hospital to a nursing home. I went over to visit after my trip to UVA (Charlottesville, VA). Chris had stepped out of the room to talk to her sister. I took over her spot on the bed, to hold her hand and talk to her. She looked at me, smiled, and closed her eyes. She was gone. I ran to get Chris. We thought we would have more time with her. I'm going to miss her so much!
Early today, my daughter-in-law lost her baby. She had been having problems with her pregnancy. My son called and told me the news. I am so heartbroken - they lost their daughter....I lost my grand-daughter. I always wanted a daughter and it wasn't meant to be. And today, I lost my grand-daughter.
My heart just aches - too much to handle in one week.

Dr Appts, Hospital visits, and Physical Therapy - OH MY!!!
Where do I begin? Mom had a Dr. appointment with the Foot Dr. this week. All was fine there. Then she had her PT/INR checked - everything fine there too! Today, we went to see a new Dr. for gastro problems she is having. Next Thursday she drinks that wonderful GoLightly prep for a Colonoscopy on Friday...which she is NOT happy about! This Friday, she starts physical therapy for her right knee. She has a Baker's cyst behind her knee and was given a cortisone shot and ordered PT three times a week. She tells me all the time how lucky she is to have me for a daughter and a nurse to her! :)

A friend of mine I met thru my charity 6 years ago, Chris, has been with her Mom in the hospital for 2 weeks now. So much going on with her Mom. She's hardly eating enough to keep a bird alive. They made the decision for her to become a DNR and now calling in Hospice. I've called quite a bit and the past few days, I've gone to see Chris and her Mom more. She always gives me a kiss on the cheek and tells me she loves me when I leave. She crocheted ALOT for my charity and made such beautiful things for the babies. She was always very supportive of my charity. When I sit with them, Chris and I just crochet up a storm and her Mom just watches us in between resting. These are a pair of booties I learned how to make while sitting with Chris and her Mom yesterday - they are so cute! Don't you think???
So it's been a very busy and emotional week so far and it's only Weds.!!! No word yet from Trish about the baby.
Driving to Luray, VA this afternoon to pick up Mom's keys that were lost by my middle son, Steven, (when we went to meet the investigator and mow the yard!) and to get her hair cut and check on the house. They were turned in to CVS Pharmacy and they ran the number on her plastic tag thingy and got her name and address from that. They wrote her a letter stating her keys were turned into them and then turned over to the Police Department to be picked up. We honestly thought they were lost forever. That was so nice of the staff at CVS to go to all that trouble to find the owner! So it does pay one way or another to have those plastic key thingys from different stores to get discounts!
Here's a happy picture to share. This is ME sitting on the beach last month on one of the "cooler" days, crocheting in front of the ocean! What can I say - I LOVE TO CROCHET!!!

Grandchild #2
MyHotComments Nana loves you my little Angel!
Trish is having problems with her pregnancy. Chris, my oldest son, told me today. I am just devastated. My heart is just broken. Trying to keep busy with everyday things, to keep my mind busy. But my own memories come back, I start thinking about things more and I start crying. There's nothing I can do but pray. Another question to add to my list of why?
Life is so precious...hug the ones you love and embrace the ones you love in your heart that you will never hug. Nana loves you my little Angel!

Pics to Share
When Chuck and I were on our vacation in the Outer Banks, we walked the beach quite a bit. On one of our walks, we saw a seagull eating something. As we got closer, it was a starfish! We couldn't believe they would eat something like that! So I got pictures of two different starfish on the beach. My first time seeing a real starfish on the beach!
When we stayed at the Sea Foam, Chuck sat on the bigger swing and I just had to swing on the swing set! I love to swing! No matter how old I get, I'll always love to swing! hahaha

Blankets for Deployed Daddies
While on my vacation, I was introduced to this group, Blankets for Deployed Daddiesthrough one of my crochet groups. The crochet group has CAT's (crochet-a-thon's)and last month was dedicated to this charity. Chuck and I went to A C Moore, when we were in Raleigh, NC and I started making these 2 blankets. Wanted to share what I made for them. They ask for specific sizes and patterns to be used when making these blankets. If you have some extra 100% cotton yarn (the type you use to make dishcloths) and can knit or crochet, they could use your help in making these blankets for the daddies! These little blankets are sent to daddies in the service. They place them inside their pillowcases and the blankets absorb the father's scent. After a certain time, the father's send their blankets home for their babies to use, and it has their daddy's scent on it! Please check out their website and write for the patterns!

Apple Blossom Items for Babies
Here are a few items I made for the babies at Winchester Medical Center NICU for Apple Blossom last week. Everything is decorated pink, green, and white for Apple Blossom. It's a busy week here in town with special events, parades, carnivals, and the Circus.
***NOTE***
I asked my Website Manager to add the Preemie One Piece (Onesie) pattern to my charity website. It should be up in a few days in the pattern section. Check back to see! HeartFelt Angels
Here is the original pattern for a larger baby: Baby Boy’s Burial Outfit

Stitches of Love for a Special Friend
Recently, I asked several ladies to crochet squares to be assembled into a Comfortghan for a special friend, Sandy (of The Bridge Project), who lost her Mother at Easter. The squares I received were all so pretty! Every stitch was made with love and I loved putting this together for her. Here is a picture of the heart squares I crocheted for her afghan.
Here is the note I wrote with the diagram of the squares (who gave what square):
These squares were made especially for you and were assembled into this Comfortghan. Every stitch was made with love. May it bring you comfort during this difficult time. Also, may it be a reminder of how much we all care about you and how much you are loved! Beth, Lynda, Scarlet, Ghost, Faith, Sandie, Wendy
(I'll post a picture of the afghan as soon as I figure out what I did wrong saving it! Comes up as an error! I didn't want to post this until I knew for sure she got the box!!! :)

My Mom's Home
Got a call from a family friend this morning that the front door to my Mom's house was standing wide open. My oldest son and I drove to her house and found that someone had broke in thru the front door. They destroyed furniture, flipped over furniture, ramsacked thru every room in the house, left windows open, and wrote
"die beth dies" on her refrigerator. They took my picture off her living room wall and busted it up. They wrote other things on the living room wall too. So much more they did to her home. Granted it was a much older home and needed attention. But they destroyed so much. In every room. And why target me? I went to Mom's Dr to get her a prescription to help calm her down. (I need it more tho! I hope I can sleep tonight. I can't get the picture of the writing on the fridge off my mind.) Police are investigating it and was told they have had a rash of B&E's in the area and another house got trashed just like my Mom's. But this is personal.
