Where does time go????

Where in the world does time go?

It's been 2 years since the love of my life, ^Hayden^, has passed away. 2 years. Doesn't seem possible. My heart is still empty without him. I miss his smiles, his laughter, him saying my name, watching him blow kisses to people - that I taught him to do. I miss him. But I know he is with GG and they are having fun in Heaven. My Mom and I made a pinky promise and I know she followed thru. I know ^i^

It's been a year since my Mom passed away and her birthday is coming up April 14th. She would have been 76 years old. I miss her so much. More than anyone knows. Just to quiet and lonely at the house. But I keep going on.

Abby is now 7 months old. They are still in MN. I miss them too. Haven't got to see her or hold her yet. But she knows her Nana's voice on the phone. So funny to hear this little girl do raspberries on the phone! Just funny!!!

And the twins! Colby and Clayton will be a year old April 27th. What a joy to see them grow and develop their own personalities. They are doing great. Next visit to Duke in May. So far, by the Grace of God, they do NOT have SCID's like ^Hayden^ had. What brings alot of joy to my heart is that I do the bunny hop song with them. I did this with ^Hayden^ and he would laugh and have the biggest smile on his face...then he would say "do gin" (do again!). Colby and Clayton love it too when I do that with them. Big smiles and laughs. Can't wait till I hear them say "do gin"!!!

Starting a new nursing job in MD next week. Yes, it's 45 miles from home, but the pay and the benefits were hard to pass up.

Still crocheting, and learning new knitting techniques. Having fun learning to knit. It's been a year too!!! But my first love will always be crochet! I'm hooked! hahahaha :)

Remember Me????

I'm still around! Going thru a very hard time missing my Mom as this will be my first Christmas without her. She was in the hospital last year this time and we all spent Christmas with her in her hospital room. I promised her that as soon as she got home from rehab, we would celebrate Christmas. We never got to do that. Just so quiet and lonely at home with out her and the kids. Guess I'm really going thru the "empty nest syndrome"! And I don't like it at all! Pete, my parakeet, keeps me company. But not like the the kids and Mom!

Anyway, I posted some pictures of things i have been working on thru the summer, fall, and now into winter on my Crafty Cupboard site. Will post more after the New Year!

As for Abby, she is 3 months old and doing great. I know Matt and Holli are excited about having their First Christmas together as a family. They are still in MN. Miss them bunches too! Can't wait till they move back to VA!

As for Colby and Clayton - the kids got a letter last week from Duke telling them that they do NOT have SCID's!!! They are healthy and thriving boys!!! They have to go back in May for more testing, but as it stands right now - they are SCID FREE!!! So Chris and Trish got the best Christmas present this year - along with the rest of us! I know Hayden and Mom are having fun together in Heaven and looking down on us all. We all love them and miss them so much.

Girl's Night Out!

I was invited to a "Girl's Night Out" at a friend's house last night. She invited several ladies to crochet, knit, eat - whatever! I had the BEST time! We had the best food and then put on our jammies and sat and crocheted, talked, and listened to the 80's music. She had 3 baskets of yarn out for us to pick and choose what to use and make things with - didn't put a dent in it! hahaha When we first got started crocheting, Penny made Beer Bread for all of us. It was so delicious! I had a slice with spinach dip on it for breakfast! Yum, yum! Chloe and the boys kept us entertained, China stayed to herself (Chris's dogs). It was alot of fun and we got alot of things crocheted! Can't wait till we can do this again!!! Took pictures of the food and forgot pics of all of us working - was having too much fun!

Keychains and Crochet

These are the cutest little keychains I have ever seen or made! A friend gave me the pattern. I am taking orders for these and they are selling like hotcakes! If you want one or more, please let me know!





I posted some other pictures of crochet projects I've been working on while visiting my Mother on my other blog. Please hop over and take a gander at what I've been working on! I'm still making slippers too! I find a new color and think "Oh, wonder what that will look like?"...and I have to make them. They are a quick and easy pattern to work on while visiting or just waiting in the Dr office. Or even on a lunch break!

Look what I can do!

A friend of mine told me about this really neat knitted scarf pattern and I just had to try it after seeing her scarves! LET ME SAY: I am NOT a knitter! I'm learning tho! I either get it too tight or too loose, but I'm trying! But this pattern is so fun and I think it's turning out pretty good! It is so easy and fun! It's called Farrow Rib Scarf (aka Magic Scarf). On #8 needles, you cast on 25 sts. Then *K3, P1, repeat from * across and K1 in last stitch. You repeat this pattern for the entire scarf. I'm using the Clover Bamboo needles and I love the feel of them. I see Christmas presents out of this pattern!!!

Here is a baby sweater I just finished last night. I used a pattern from Bella's and then used my own dc row and cross stitch row. I'm so used to making preemie things that I get so paranoid when making newborn items that they won't fit. Ok...I admit...I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my crocheting!

Technical Difficulties :)

Just wanted to say Hi to everyone in Blog Town! I am having technical difficulties... ie my computer, shall I say. So right now I am in MD using a friends internet to check on all my email, check all my blog friends, and then on to Facebook! Challenge Lights: The Chesapeake Lightship, Concord Point, Cove Point, Drum Point, Fort Washington, Hooper Strait, Piney Point, Point Lookout, Seven Foot Knoll and Turkey Point.

***I'm leaving early in the morning to go to the Lighthouse Challenge! I'm so excited! I've been waiting for this for a LONG time!!! Making sure I have new batteries for my camera and space on my picture card! I'll have my crocheting to work on in between lighthouses!!! :)

Blankets for Deployed Daddies

While on my vacation, I was introduced to this group, Blankets for Deployed Daddiesthrough one of my crochet groups. The crochet group has CAT's (crochet-a-thon's)and last month was dedicated to this charity. Chuck and I went to A C Moore, when we were in Raleigh, NC and I started making these 2 blankets. Wanted to share what I made for them. They ask for specific sizes and patterns to be used when making these blankets. If you have some extra 100% cotton yarn (the type you use to make dishcloths) and can knit or crochet, they could use your help in making these blankets for the daddies! These little blankets are sent to daddies in the service. They place them inside their pillowcases and the blankets absorb the father's scent. After a certain time, the father's send their blankets home for their babies to use, and it has their daddy's scent on it! Please check out their website and write for the patterns!
